Just curious if y’all could give me some guidance on a good outdoor target.
I’m planning on leaving it outside, but covered.
Want something fairly large, maybe 36”x36”?
I’ve been looking at bba targets, they’re the foam layered targets with banded compression.
Morrell outdoor range is also getting high reviews, it’s just a little smaller than I wanted.
Any experiences good or bad?

Third hand archery has a 36x36 you can make serious savings if you have time and resources to make it. Their faces hold up really well

That’s what you have also. I built a wood frame. You can stuff it with old clothes or pallet wrap.

The bigger 3rd hand target takes a butt load of clothes to fill and will be almost impossible to move. They’re nice targets but I’d rather use my morrell outdoor range bag outside.
Mine is 8 or 10 yrs old and has had multiple replacement covers put on it but still stops arrows. I do have to rotate it a little more often but I don’t see replacing it anytime soon.

I was looking into the third hand bags, and I came up with the same conclusion as P.
Also, what happens if the cotton clothes get wet?
I have some covers already I bought a while back but nothing to fill them with. Never thought of pallet wrap. I will look into that for sure!
In terms of store bought, it looks from my research that the outdoor range is pretty good, especially for around $100.

Lots of store bought box targets use pallet wrap. It’s not hard to find. If you have a Pepsi or coke bottler they usually have dumpsters full. I also hung a 1/2 piece of rubber behind the frame of mine as backstop. If it wasn’t -35 I’d go take a picture for you haha

My Third Hand target just rotted through after 4 years without any covering. Once it warms up, I'm going to do another one.

My Blob has been sitting outside the last 3 years and still kicking. Doesn’t get pounded but still working well Was just going to ask if ya'll have tried a blob. I know folks that have had one 10+ years and shoot it often. Not so good for broadheads though i don't think.

Until you get several hundred shots in it, arrows can be a pita to get out. I only shot field points into mine for long range tuning. Otherwise, I only used it for BH’s. I shot my bag target with FP’s most of the time. Thing lasted almost 10 years before it got so shot up I had to replace it. I could still shoot the edges but generally I don’t shoot BH’s at close range and from 40 on out it was getting too risky.

It chews up the blades pretty good if shooting a lot of shots

And yes for the love of god don’t shoot a fp into a new blob. I didn’t think I’d ever get those arrows back at p’s
