What is the best chrono to purchase? My ProChrony took a huge insult today, so I wanted to get you guy's option on the matter....

I had a beta blue and have a prochrono.
I got rid of the beta blue. The prochrono was more consistent for me. Both read about the same.
Unless you semi fold the beta you can really get some good numbers out of the beta blue...lol

I thought I had a decent chrono complete with the led light kit, but then was told that it wasn't good at all. I was told that all of the well known tuners use either the red or the blue Shooting Chrony......., Anyone else have experience with different makes?

I'm with enkriss on the chrono, I have one of the original shootin chrono's. besides my pro chrono It's not as consistent as the pro one. Does show speeds about 5 to 10fps. faster than the pro which I like ha. ha.

Stan take it to your local pro shop and shoot it side by side with there's if the numbers run close don't sweat it !!

From what I've seen from mine and read, the Pro Chrono seems to be more consistent. I'm not worried about breaking IBO speed records with a hot reading chrono so that my tuning chops look awesome. I'd rather just have a good consistent reading to know if I'm in the ball park. Can't remember the last time my PC gave a weird number. It's always where it should be over a 3 shot string and it doesn't seem picky at all where in the pick up area you shoot. I've seen varying numbers from some chronies depending on where the arrow passes the screens.

I have had a pro Chrono that was loaned to me by a friend. Since I gave it back gone through a pair of caldwells ...they were terrible. And now I have the green shooting chrony ....I am not sold on that one either. Of the three the pro chrono was far and away better then the others. It was more consistent and less light sensitive.

It seems , from what I am reading, that the pro tuners use the shooting chrony for elevated numbers. And the experienced home tuners go for consistency.
I understand the pro tuners line of thought. But I agree more with the home tuners preferring consistency. I'm not trying to sell bows with big numbers. I just want to see the effects of different bow and arrow weights. Those are two completely different agendas......
We constantly see a backlash against companies claiming one ibo speed and few in the field are reaching those numbers. I suppose that greed runs the archery business just like most others...but to keep a happy customer seems to be the better path in the long run. Taking the lowest number to advertise probably would be laughed out of the boardroom, but if every bow I bought from Company X made their numbers with the comfort they claim, I would be much happier in the long run.

I found out that KS doesn't decide which numbers are advertised.....and I was kinda disappointed when I found out who does, and how they go about it. Some companies he designs for give a more realistic number than others....

It's amazing that this day and age there's not a more accurate chrono.

I've added one to my list of future purchases. They are great for lots of things when setting up a bow. But I'm over the speed numbers. I bought a couple fast bows and found out that broadheads shoot like crap after a certain point lol.

Hey KM, look into magneto speed, they may have an archery setup by now and look at LabRadar (they are doppler chronos)...not sure what your budgeting for this but I was looking into it a few months ago and I think I am going LabRadar when I get ready.

Labs are expensive...probably around $600 for the setup but they are the best thing going IMO. Magnetos are on par with standard chronos but you don't have to worry about lighting and hitting the blades.
