I originally posted this on another website, then read where that sight was a 'ghost town' and there was a link here. So, here I am. Newbie..
I'm looking for a back up bow, currently shooting a Bowtech RPM 360, and was wondering how the Barnes replacement limbs are holding up on the old Destroyer bows? Hoping I might fine one at a fair price and upgrade the limbs.
And what is the difference on between the 340 and the 350? I assume the cams? Also, I read on the other forum in an old thread regarding the Barnes limbs that they are pre-drilled for the Binary Overdrive Cams? Anybody set their Destroyer up this way?

Welcome to a great place to hang out. Pretty laid back and not to opinionated, well except for the killer midget. You know. Every forum has to have at least one!
As to the BT Destroyers. As I remember the 340 had a 7" brace and the 350 had a 6". The Barnes limbs seem to be doing very well as replacements from those that I know that swapped theirs out.

I didn't own one, but from what I remember shooting the 340 was the nicer of the two bows personally. The 350 was pretty loaded up and the 340 was just a better overall draw and shot. I think this was when Strother got everyone going and I had the SR71 (actual strother name) and then a KK Vengeance so I didn't pick up a Destroyer. Elk is right on the brace heights.
*on a side note I did really like that SR71, wish I never sold it.

Fast and smooth. I understand your regrets.... I agree that the 340 is the nicer shooting bow. I still have two 350's and a 340. Of course the 350's are faster, but only due to the 6" brace. But, to the OP's question, all of my Destroyers have their original limbs.....so I can't help you.....

Stan what I remember most about the first run of the 350's were they would derail so danged easy the string and cable groves were machined way to shallow on there first run...

I don't think any of mine were firstrun bows. So I haven't experienced that problem..... and I shot the fool out of them. The 340 was my favorite for a couple of years. Even had it redone in one of Whacks first camo patterns.
But I do remember that the original Destroyers were plagued by limb failures, limb finish problems and the derailment problem that you mentioned. Somehow the three that I have survived with none of those problems! Clean living , I guess!!LOL

Yeah, the 340 is what I'm focusing on finding. I prefer the 7" brace height and it's plenty fast for me. I called Barnes today and inquired about the limbs. Asked him if they've ever had any of them fail. He chuckled and said 'not that he's aware of' and he's sold over four hundred sets. That's good enough for me. From what I have been told by the guys at my local shop, and they are the area Bowtech dealer, it's not a matter of "if" the Destroyer limbs will fail, but "when". Problem with Bowtech is their warranty ends when the original seller sells the bow. I wish they at least had a warranty that if you buy a used Bowtech bow, from a licensed Bowtech dealer, that sold the bow originally to a customer and that customer then brought it in for a trade in for a newer model, the warranty would still be valid. I understand if you buy a used bow off eBay or say a forum like this, it's no warranty. But if I buy a bow from my dealer, shoot it for a year, take it back into them and want to buy the latest and greatest model, and they put the old one up for sale there in their shop, why can't the warranty still extend to that next owner? It doesn't, so nothing we can do about it, just saying it would be nice. My shop has one in their for sale, but the seller wants $399 for it. The new limbs are $176, or somewhere around there, plus the cost of having them replace the limbs for me and setting it all back up. Heck, that's the price of a new bow!
Now, who's got a Destroyer 340 for sale?

Thanks. I went over there and found it. Sent him a PM.
There were a couple of others for sale and many that had already been sold. Problem with buying one with the original limbs, it's like buying a time bomb. Clock is ticking on those limbs, so to buy one, you need to go into with the mindset that you need to replace the OEM limbs with the Barnes ASAP. Again, with what they are asking, add the limbs and labor costs, you got yourself a new, off the shelf bow with a warranty.

Welcome to the forum!
PM kicker338, I know he bought a pair of the Barnsdale limbs if you need another opinion. Heck he may even sell his setup, ya never know unless you ask. Good luck.

A little late on this thread but yes I do have a D350 with the barnsdale limbs, also has pretty new cams, rocker inserts and limp pocket inserts. Very nice shooting bow, I used it as a backup to my pse dna then turned it over to my grandson, then when I got my xpedition grandson took over the pse. Haven't advertised the 350 for sale yet but it is. A note on the new cams, no dry fire, just a stupid stunt on my part.
