I listened to a podcast with Greg Poole the other day. He was explaining the differences with different vane materials and why they don't stick. It was on Nock on episode 112. Not sure if anyone here listens or not. Anyway I finally fletched some aae max hunters which are urethane vanes up that actually stuck lol. I've always liked these things but haven't had success with any glue combos. So what I ended up wiping the base of these vanes with is a 50/50 mix of mercury adhesives accelerator which is heptane and acetone. I used fletch tite platinum and those suckers are not coming off the wraps. They also stuck very quickly even with that glue. I'm sure it would work with CA glues also. I'm pretty sure that chemical mix is what is in those primer pens. Most of you guys have this all figured out but I like to geek out on this stuff so I thought I would share my results.

Looking really good there t.
My solution for getting vanes to stick is to call Jerry at South Shore Archery!
Works perfect every time!

I've been doing lots of driving lately so it's nice to learn some archery related stuff. Put on the headphones and you don't have to listen to anyone lol. Another 4 hrs drive today for my oldest boys Takwondo sparring tourny today.

Arrows look really good! Nice twist on them too. Which jig are you using?
I used to use the Zing primer, but I found that denatured alcohol on the vane bases and the shaft make the Loctite set and hold really well.
At least with Blazer vanes......

Are you still having that problem with how to get your "glued to the shaft fingers," unglued?

As usual, my friend, your question needs explaining......just when did I glue my fingers to an arrow shaft? And remember, this is a family friendly forum!

I have had pretty good luck with aae max bond. The only problem I have had is the wrap starting to come off after a while. There for I dont use wraps anymore I stopped buying EBay wraps because of that......but the Bohning wraps seem to stay stuck forever. I have some in the shop that are still stuck tight after 3 years. I just cleaned the shaft with the denatured alcohol before applying.

I used the ez fletch mini. Also I use the one stringer wraps and never had an issue with them.

I also found the fletch tite platinum held better on the aluminum than CA glues.
