Looking to pick on of these up the next time a local shop has one around, anyone have any experience with the rifle or the round itself? They have a 20" barrel and a 24" barrel model and can't really decide between the two. I don't really know if I need the extra barrel length, it's a smaller case so I doubt it will lose much velocity.
Anyone done any hunting with a 6.5mm round? I thought it would be good for antelope, coues, easterns...maybe muley's.

the 6.5 is an incredibly versatile round. you can stretch its legs on varmints. But also makes a great medium size game round. A lot of folks believe the 7mm is possibly the ultimate round, myself included. But 6.5 IMO runs a close second. And yes the 6.5 300 is one to be looked at for sure.

Years back I bought a 300 RUM and it has been my go to rifle for most hunting work, but then after I got into reloading a bit and more into ballistics I kind of wished I went with a 7mm. Anyway, with ruger coming out with this platform I thought it would be a good place to start with the 6.5. The 6.5x300WBY has some major fuel behind it, that would be a fun gun to. I like the 6.5CM because you can find stuff on the shelves if you don't feel like loading it...I think with the WBY I would have to load all my ammo or get another job to feed it. I will look into it more though...I appreciate the info fellas

Can't wait to get that dude going when it cools down

Looking cool is the most important thing!

I loved and still do love the older Rugers, tang safety, dog leg bolt especially.
The 6.5 is a very good caliber. I've never had a Creedmore but have played with .264's and 6.5 Rem Mags. (just dawned on me that one of the 6.5's was in a Ruger M77! less than a MOA rifle out of the box!) Very accurate and hard hitting.
