Ok I know this is a long time coming. However even though I got the bow a few months back I did not to get to really put it through the paces. I was shooting it pretty much rough tuned and liking it but I didn't dig deep into it. The last week or so I been getting at it though. Here on my thoughts.
This bow has more of a throwback feel compared to other 2017 models, clean lines and simple riser design apposed to the spoked out, riser cages, box like square feel that's on a lot of other bows.
The GX2 really points well, you can draw straight on game with out any fumble or excessive movement. It holds very very solid. The grip is excellent, simple and not finicky, and not much too it. I really like it and I don't find myself searching for anything in it when I switch back to it from another bow. The riser looks sweet, great clean machining and the fluting makes it a semi custom look to it. The camo on the riser is digital tan, it looks ok but very muted. Doesn't pop at all. Just fine for a hunting bow but I can see some guys wanting more eye candy. I don't love it and don't hate it. Now the graphics on the coin and limbs are another matter, little to much for my taste. That said it comes together nicely and the bow looks great. Fit and finish is way nicer then what's avg right now. I should also mention the limb pockets, they are sweet they look amazingly custom with the TI hardwear and there is no play in them. Really nicely done. I really get the impression that they put a lot of thought into this bow. All the pieces fit together and complement each other. ( except the cable slide). This bow wasn't just piecemealed together to say we have a new offering.
The draw on these cams are really smooth. I have the RL cam and originally got 28" mods but then also bought 28.5 mods. I went with the 28.5 as they got me to my anchor point more consistently. This cam stacks up way more gradually then most of the cams I shot over the last three or four years. The draw is way more linear and there isn't any dump at all. The cams look very refined, the stainless and TI hardwear is a great compliments to the black anodized. So the cams and limb pockets really match well looks wise. No rough edges, no flaws. They have both a limb stop and a cable stop post. The limb stop adjustment slot has a huge range, in that there is no take up from the mods in the slot. So in effect you will have way more adjustment room then can be used in the range for the mod setting. The adjustable cable stop post prevents you from locking this baby up. My first reaction to these cams was that it was going to a hard to get ibo (335) out of them with their butter draw cycle and a 7" brace hight.
I set the bow up with a new QAD Hx, a three pin dovetail Ascent Verdict with a revenge micro adjust head. Also a black tight spot. I matched all the screws with stainless to keep it matching with the TI hardwear in the rest of the bow. I went with a carbon shafted donkier elite stabilizer to match the limbs. Bow jaxs added to the Stabilizer and the split limbs. Not sure I need them though but it really looks bad ass matching them to string stop rod. The cable guard rod is nicely done with a nice machined off set. Looks really sharp. The cable slide that came with bow was another matter. Right away I didn't like the looks, way to much going on and didn't match the clean lines on the rest of the bow. It also wasn't smooth at all, seemed to have a little binding or gabbing to it. I thought about pulling it off and polishing it up a bit with very fine sand paper however chucked it and put a Saunders on it, I since changed that to the new PSE roller. More on that later...suffice to say I like the way it looks and feels way better the the stock slide.
The strings that came with the bow were a very pleasant surprise. Honestly there is no need to change them, they look and we're as steady as anything I ever ordered, maybe better then a few sets I had made from builders I no longer use. That said I still ordered a set of black and buckskin from Ex-Wolverine. Tom set me up quickly and the set was/ is perfect. They look great. He even served the cable sections where they pass through the slide, roller at my request. I just can't see not having a set of his strings on any bow I own while he is willing to make them for me.
The bow tuned up very easy, center shot was 7/8. Draw length with the the 28" mods were a touch long, and the 28.5 mods were spot on. I usually shoot 28" however the 28.5 felt way better to me on this bow. I started the process with .350 Rampages 50 grains of brass up front however the bow tuned even straighter with .300 Rampages and 50 grain hits. The only issue I ran into was speed. I tried three different arrows from 405 to 435 grains and I was pretty much 13-15 fps slower then calculated ibo across the board.
I decided to rework things a bit and see if I could get closer.
So first thing I did was advance the cams a bit. I left my limbstops at the position I started with for reference. Then I switched to the PSE roller slide, this allowed me to move the cable rod position in closer. All that picked me up about 6 fps I am now at 274fps, 28.5/65 with 18grains on the string. Archery pal has me at 281 plugging in an ibo of 335. So at this point I am 7 fps off the mark. Not bad at all but not at it's rating either.
Lastly I need to talk about the feed back post shot. There isn't any. None, nadda, nothing. No jump, no vibration nothing. Totally dead. Overall I like this bow a lot. It's what I am looking for in a hunting bow. Light weight ( all decked out with 5 arrows in the quiver this baby is 6.6 pounds), looks sweet in all Black and Tan. It smooth without the up front stack that other binary cams have right now to squeeze a few more fps out of them. And lastly it holds and shoots mindlessly. It's solid.
You will post up some pictures once get good weather and start sighting it in.

Btw, that weight is not bad either.......for an aluminum riser bow. There is good and bad on the PSE. I put it on my Elite Spirit and because of the length I had to move the rod from 5 o'clock to 1 o'clock. No real big deal. The issue I did run it with it was the angle of the rollers seemed to be hard on the cables. I noticed right away that it would grab the wax out of it a kind of ball it up. When you looked down at the cables through the roller you could see that angle of them isn't doing anything any favors as it's only touching a small part of the cable. The cables are not served and I felt the Saunders was a way better fit. Move over to the new breed. I had Tom serve the cables for me. I initially went with the Saunders however since I was coming up way short speedwise I needed to switch things up. The original slide is quasi roller. The PSE slide is more similar then the Saunders was. So I tried it. With the served cables it seems to hit more surface area and seems to be working well. Going to stick with it a while and see. If I continue to like it I will have a new set of strings and cables made for my elite and have tom serve the cables. How is your Athens? I relay like the looks of them however I can't get past the mass weight of the bows.

I relay like the looks of them however I can't get past the mass weight of the bows. The Athens could shed a little weight, no doubt about that. And I could show them how in a few seconds..... but, as you and I discussed last week, they must have posted the weight of the bow with all dampners and other accessories installed. When I compared it to other bows that were fully setup, it didn't turn out to be the heaviest... If I wrote a full blown review like you did, it would read almost identical. The draw is so smooth all the way back, that it surprises you when you don't feel a dump. But the smooth draw takes away some speed, and this bow won't hit the rated ibo numbers either. I shot the bow for a while with the stock cable guide and started noticing wear. So I put the PSE roller on it and it stopped the wear. The geometry on the Athens must be a little different than the Elite, as I have no problem with the way the cables run through the roller. But I'll be keeping a close eye on it for a while to be sure. I haven't shot it through the chrono again after changing to the roller, but I have read that others picked up 4-5 fps after the change over. But that still wouldn't put me at ibo with a hunting weight arrow. I like the bow. I like the draw. I think I'll stand hunt with it this year, too. My Xped SS will back it up, and my OB Sniper from 3 years ago will back the SS up. The Sniper got moved back only because it is a 65 lb bow and I have decided it was time to go back to 60 lbs again. It seems that your bow and mine both lose efficiency with heavier arrows (maybe simply because it is a two track). I'm even considering an experiment with other brands of micro-shaft arrows to see how they affect that efficiency loss problem. After researching some, I found that I could get a lot more foc and still be 50 gr lighter. If they were only fmj's......lol

Interesting trial what you said about the pse roller slide. Some bows it works great others not so great, this same thing has showed up over On the AT forums. It was a perfect match for my expedition as it has very little front to back movement of the slide. Why pse made the roller groves so deep I can't figure out, it really wasn't needed.

If the groves were wider or even flat it would be much better on a lot of bows. The other flaw it is that you could, although difficult....derail the cable from the front slide in your travels ...hopefully you catch it before you take a shot at an animal.

It's absolutely bc they are two tracks. That cam system just won't be as efficient with heavier arrows like a hybrid cam will it's also why I basically have little to no desire for one beside the higher let off limb stop deals too. If they won't perform with a heavy arrow I don't need em.

It seems that your bow and mine both lose efficiency with heavier arrows (maybe simply because it is a two track). I'm even considering an experiment with other brands of micro-shaft arrows to see how they affect that efficiency loss problem. Maybe I didn't go extreme enough in difference of weight, but the Sniper stayed right with the SS. I was surprised. I think I saw the paperwork on my test a couple of days ago. If I find it again I can post what I found. But that doesn't mean all two tracks are created equal. And the available weights of arrows I had on hand to shoot may have not had a big enough difference. I'll try to find my notes again. It'll be good for a conversation, anyway.........

Lol! 50??You're only considering one wing of the midget bow museum!

I don't agree it's a two track vs hybrid issue at all. It's a ratings issue. For the most part if I can get the IBO rating out of an IBO weighted arrow i can carry it up or down in arrow weight. However I that doesn't necessarily mean that will carry over when the draw length is chnageD. If the bows were simply rated honestly then the issue would be nonexistent. I think most of these companies plot speeds into a graph and then pick the outliers because they can sell that higher number. Regardless of the cam style there will always be sweet spot in the design were the use of the cam best meshes with with load on the limbs. Some cams taht might be 28" inches and others it might be 30" who knows...but by taking the high number it certainly isn't indicative of what the bow will do along the range of the cams adjustable range.
