What’s your favorite metal for a knife blade?
I just bought a knife that is made of D2 tool steel. I’m fairly familiar with it, but haven’t owned a knife made from it......
I’ve got a Ulu coming that is made from 374 layer Damascus. It is a 2 two metal Damascus.... first I’ve had in Damascus......
So , anyone familiar with either of these metals?

As a custom knife maker, I cut my teeth on O1 tool steel. Its still my favorite. D2 would be 2nd favorite tool steel.

I've gone to their website many time but even though all that I have read about them is positive, I just haven't been able to pull the trigger.

Hmmmmmm , that location sounds familiar. It was also the starting place for “Knives of Alaska”. My cabinet builder was their go to guy for display cases and boxes.
Edit: I should have read the info on them before posting....... Knives of Alaska is a partner in this company.

I just got this one shipped to me........ Made by CFK IPAK using D2. It came near razor sharp. George, do you recognize the shape of the state that is etched on the blade?

I don't care for a sheath with a snap and I prefer a clip point design and none of their designs are close to what I like.

For me, the cost of the knife determines whether I like a snap on the sheath or not.......😜

Once AGAIN, here I am trying to get a thread back on track after someone else hijacks it and I'm pretty sure that I will be blamed!
So what are you looking for in a knife?
