New to tractors and wondering if anyone has suggestions. Looking at high 40s to mid-50s hp tractors. Main work will be shredding and general pasture work. Definitely some light bucket work with grading, road maintenance and maybe some use moving some logs and such around.
Currently been looking at the Kubota L series, in particular the L4701, the Massey Ferguson 27 and 28 series (the ones that are 50-55hp), Tym T574 without cab etc. Haven't had a chance to check out the Mahindra's and I already nixxed the Deere's cus they tend to be much more expensive when comparing apples to apples to the other brands.
Only one I haven been able to take for a spin was the MF which I believe was an 2706E....if I recall correctly. They didn't have one with HST so it was a Power Shifter model. It was nice and price wasn't terrible...I think. The Tym model above is similar but will come in a bit cheaper, think $29k compared to $33k or so for the MF (still waiting on exact price).

Drive the massey, see if it's an electric clutch. Pay attention to see if it has delay before pickup and taking off Jerkin you off the seat or waiting for it to even move.... I have a 4609 that some days I'd burn that sucker to the ground cause the clutch and today is 1 of em. It's been adjusted 2 times now. Afraid they are gonna half to bust the tractor in half to actually work on it. It's a 2014 with 1061hrs and I hate it

I have a tym 574, only had it 18 months just got my 50 hrs on it (fluid change time) no problems yet and for the size its strong.. But id say first thing to do is get tire weights or load the tires. I was amazed how adding weight in tires made it able to push and pull without spinning the tire. The locking dif with just a foot push is nice and the pull handle to lock in 4x4 is nice and have not gotten stuck yet and been thru 6' snow drifts this past winter. I made the snow piles cleaning drive way and then playing in them like a kid to see if it would get stuck. But if remember correctly you bought land in TX. So not much snow there lol.
I like thw size of the over all tractor since its not as big as my buddys deere but has same hp he cant get thru the woods like i can.
Ita, to early to say if it will be a long living tractor as i bought it on a whim and never heard of that brand till i looked for a month and bought one.
I have no cab one and i believe i paid 28,500 for it id have to pull paper work out to, confirm tho.

With cab its $34.4k. I figure on going without a cab even though it would be nice in the Texas heat (and yh not much snow there lol). I hope to drive one this weekend to check it out. Also another reason I don't want to go with a cab version is I want to be able to move around in the limited woods we have...another reason I want a good size vs hp balance. Figure 50hp is enough to do the pasture work I need to do without also getting to the point it makes working around the trees in the pasture and in woods a pain.

It has the power shuttle which is really the only way I shifted and there was a slight delay between switching between forward and reverse. I was a bit rushed as I was late to a dinner party so I want to go back and check it out a bit more. One thing I was quite surprised was I did not find a lot of reviews on it. I think I was actually looking at the 26 and 27 series. I mean I see a lot online about the old Massey Fergusons and how they are tanks and still going strong, my brother in laws neighbor has an old Massey Ferguson they use for shredding etc. Not so much about their new models however. Maybe I am just looking in the wrong places...

Remember. It’s not how deep you plow. It’s how well you drive your tractor.

Hopefully the full size tractor stock situation is better than the yard size one. My old Cub Cadet is on its last leg but there’s not a regular lawn mower to be found in 3 states. I can get Zero Turns or big “mini tractors” but no new 20 ish HP lawn mowers anywhere.

We use a tractor mower at work JD X570 with some aggressive four wheeler tires on the back for some 15-25% grades. Both back tires pull the same on the tractor mower unlike the zero.
